Dion & Mount Olympus!!!!!

After getting our fill of Delphi, we got in the car and headed towards Thessaloniki.  We planned on stopping in Dion on the way, as it was about halfway there.  The drive on Google Maps had estimated 5 hours for the drive.  We quickly learned that Google Maps did not take into account the twisty-turny, windy mountain roads we would be driving.  It's a good thing I'm not prone to car sickness, because some of our drives could easily make a person who wasn't squeamish in the car lose their lunch.  I think this drive took us about 5 1/2 - 6 hours.  Basically, account for an extra hour on your drives around Greece :)

Snow!  I know those of you at home will think me crazy, but I do miss the white stuff.  Christmas just isn't the same without it!

This little guy was not afraid of us one bit.  We were stopped on the side of the mountain so I could get my snow picture, and he just wandered right on by us.

On the drive to Dion.

Mount Olympus!  The home of the gods.  We got here in the early afternoon, and the mountains were already covered in fog.  According to the locals, the early morning is the best time to see the mountains.
A Roman Aquaduct - this was right beside where we stopped to take our pictures of Mount Olympus.

When we arrived in Dion, we were hoping to see the Roman Baths and the theater.  We arrived a little before 2, and they were already closing the museum.  The baths and theater had closed at 11 that morning.  The closing times of things was probably the biggest inconvenience throughout our trip.  The bright side as far as crowds went was that it was the off-season.  The down side was that things closed earlier than even what our guidebooks said (we had 2 with us).  We were bummed, but what do you do?

An eagle in the Dion museum - I thought he was beautifully done.

A funeral stone - they fascinated me.  I'm only posting one this time, but don't you worry, there are more to come!
