Dhow Dinner Cruise

On April 19th the Sunshine Committee at school organized a Dhow Dinner Cruise for interested teachers. A Dhow is a traditional fishing boat. This particular Dhow is used by small groups to have dinner parties on. There were only about 20 spots available, and I figured I'd go. Why not?

On our way to the Dhow. I couldn't get a very good shot of the whole boat.

The Mast.

Hi!

Up in the front of the boat.

The Captain.

The guys hanging out above the captain's quarters.

Hanging out on the cushions on the top of the boat diwaniya-style.

Ladybug!

The guy in white was cooking our dinner. He grilled the chicken, beef and fish on there.

Nummy!

Dinner is served! Besides the meat, there was hummus, fruit, grilled veggies, baked potatoes, shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit and dessert. It was truly a feast! They even gave us containers to take the leftovers home.

This felt like a secret passageway. We went down there and discovered this:

Plush leather seating! It was warm down here too, which was nice. It got a little chilly above-deck. I did kind of feel like there should have been a disco ball down here...

At sea.

Irony: The generator says it's silent, but everyone on the boat would beg to differ on that point.

Unfortunately it was a really dusty day, but it makes for really cool pictures of the sun! Once we were out from shore a little ways we could actually see blue sky. That was really nice!
