Athens Eye Candy - Part 2

Day 3 Continued:

The Parthenon

A lovely theatre on the side of the hill on the way up to the Acropolis.
After we left the Agora, we walked up a massive hill, entered the Acropolis gate, then walked up some more stairs.  This is the first thing you see as you head up into the Acropolis.

Just a little doorway leading you onto the Acropolis!
The Erechtheion
The Erechtheion
The Porch of the Caryatids (female figures that serve as architectural support for the entablature of a building).
That's Lykivittos Hill in the background.

They're doing a lot of repairs to the Parthenon itself.  This is a little track they use to haul materials.  I really wanted to ride on the little car.

The Theatre of Dionysis in the Roman Agora.  This can be seen from on top of the Acropolis.

Roman Agora
Two pillars between the Acropolis walls and the Roman Agora.

The Parthenon!

From the corner.
This is from the furthest vantage point from the Parthenon on top of the Acropolis.  Thought I'd include it so you could get an idea as to how big the area is.

A close-up of the columns.
