This is something I had to ask my students about. I figured it was a prayer or blessing of some sort, and it is. It's basically asking for the ability to do well on the test or quiz.
Awwww! She's still not getting an 'A' unless she earns it :)
To Kill a Mockingbird:
For this unit I assigned each kid a chapter. They had to come up with a chapter title and an illustration for it. They then had to present their design to the class and give a short summary of the chapter, explain their title and why they chose it. While I had some work that was obviously slapped together, the following posters show the kind of talent some of my students have. The next day I put all of the posters out for the students to look at. They got to vote on their favorite 5 posters, and then I gave those students extra credit.
This poster took first place. I was really glad, because I thought she did an amazing job!
I have to admit, when I graded the following test I was amazed. The girl made comments about the questions throughout the test, and accompanied her comments / the questions with little drawings! I don't know if I will ever be so amused grading another test! I was laughing out loud the entire time I was grading it, and then I got to the back page:
This kid, well, it shouldn't have made me laugh but it did:
This kid also draws this little guy on the papers he turns in:
I adore it! How could you not? It's so dang cute!
Sometimes my students come in between classes or after school and draw on my board. I really don't care as long as I don't have anything up there. The day this happened was the day of our Poetry Cafe. It started out with adding a cup of coffee, and then, well, this is what it ended up looking like:
I told them they Korean-bombed my board!
One of the girls likes to come in and talk to me about how much she misses pork. Gah! We talk bacon and bond :)-
And the following, well, I didn't write it, but I could have!
I also have a girl who does a really good impression of me. I was talking to them one day and she came up next to me and started mimicking my gestures and the phrases that I say on a daily basis. I should have been mad, but it was funny and horrifying at the same time. I looked at her and said, "Crap, I really do that, don't I?" We all had a good laugh and moved on :)
