Poseidon's Temple / Sounion

On our last day in Greece we had to be out of our apartment by noon, but our flight didn't leave until 10.  Since we had so much time, we decided to rent a car and go down to Sounion to see Poseidon's Temple.  We rented the car because it was actually about the same price as taking the bus, and we had somewhere to keep our suitcases.  We figured we could stop along the way a few times and have dinner.  Plus, we wanted to watch the sunset, because we heard it was amazing there.  It didn't disappoint and turned out to be a fabulous decision!

The vast majority of the drive down there had us riding along the coast.

We stopped at a restaurant for wine and hot chocolate.  Obviously, you know which one I had!  We even saw people swimming out in the water.  The weather was nice, but not that nice!

We were eavesdropping on a tour group and I hear Byron's name come up.  Turns out he was one of the people who carved their name into the temple back when they still let people walk around in it.  Chris had to take this one for me since my camera wouldn't zoom in enough.

This was our last view of Greece - it was an amazing experience and a trip I absolutely adored.  I had wanted to go for years, so it was beyond exciting!
