A Low-Key Weekend

October 13th – 15th, 2011

Rick hosted movie night at his place. One of the teachers has “Bridesmaids” on their computer, so Lindsay put it on her flashdrive, and she brought it over to Ricks. There were grand plans of hooking his tv up to the computer so we could watch it on a decent sized screen. Of course that didn’t work, so 5 of us snuggled up and watched it on the computer. We live a high class life style around here!

One of the athletic coaches dropped by. He and Lindsay were going out for sheesha later. Sheesha is flavored tobacco that you smoke out of a hookah. I was very glamorous in my pajamas and declined. Maybe another time! You have to be careful where you go as a female, as most of the places are for men only. Whatever!

The plus side of the coach dropping by is that he brought cheesecake. The most adorable little individual cheesecakes in a variety of flavors. Seriously. I wasn’t hungry and I ate 3. Ok, maybe 4.

This rest of the weekend was pretty low key. I got up early to talk to Robin on Friday, but she was talking to her hubsters, so I waited and got some productive things done around my apartment. One thing that I’ve been meaning to do for years is to create a budget, first by figuring out how much I spend, then seeing where I can save some more. Obviously, this is new, we’ll see how far it gets me!

I got to talk to Robin for a little bit right before Maddy, Lindsay and I headed off to Fahaheel to get some groceries. It’s like the Friday ritual around here!

We ate at a nice restaurant in the mall that overlooks the Gulf. It was delicious, and I wish I would have taken a picture of the interior, but I have feeling all touristy, even though I TOTALLY look like it. Another time!

Lindsay got hit on at the grocery store by this guy named Jerry. Seriously, I walked away for 2 seconds and when I turn around *bam*! He called her later and told her he thought she should know he was in a relationship. She hung up. Yeah, she and I get along really well!

Some of the girls were going to the Rugby Ball. I decided not to go. I did go and hang out and have “tea” with them while they got ready. Definitely the highlight of my night! That and I was in bed at 9:30. It was wonderful!

The Girls

It was also Rina's birthday. We got her a tart and a candle :)

Saturday was a school work-day for me. I decided to stay as long as it took to finish grading and to get ready for Sunday. 5 and a half hours later and I caught a cab to go to the 360 Mall. I had heard they had great body pillows at the maternity store. For real. Do you have any freaking idea how hard it is to get a decent pillow over here? They’re all flat as pancakes. It’s killing me! I sleep with 3 under my head and that’s not enough. I’ve been using my couch pillows as my body pillow, and it’s just not the same. I got to the mall and realized that I really didn’t want to spend over $100 on a body pillow. I left without it, but I did get a few shirts on sale at the GAP. However, I did not enter any other stores, as they were way beyond a teacher’s salary: Versace, Gucci, Armani, Burberry, etc. No Jimmy Choo there, but don’t you worry, because it’s coming soon! HA! I swear I was the only non-Kuwaiti in the mall. It’s amazing how a girl can get stared at!

I cabbed it home (by the way, this was the first time I rode in a cab by myself here – not having a phone makes it a little strange feeling for some reason) and read a book on my couch until way past my bedtime. Exciting times I tell you!
