A beautiful thing about living in Kuwait is that you can get pretty much anything food-related that you want delivered. And I mean anything (ice cream and coffee included)! There’s a website where you can select your location, and then all of the food delivery in that area shows up! The menus are online, you order, they call to confirm, and within the hour you have your food.
Fellow Mankato and Fairmontians who love and miss a Hardee’s, let me tell you something. There is a Hardee’s 6 blocks from my apartment AND IT DELIVERS! I am not lying, as it would be sacrilegious to lie about such things. I have not had it yet, because I still don’t have a phone, and I am afraid of the precedent it might set. Will-power? Self-control? They will probably go right out the window! And no, I also haven’t walked there because I haven’t found another devoted fan yet, and the road to get there is ridiculously busy. That, and its freaking hot outside!
Maddie (a computer science teacher in the H.S. and M.S. is from New Mexico) lives in the apartment below mine. We had both had a long week, and needed groceries. She asked if I wanted to come over and order delivery. Of course I said yes!
We ended up ordering pasta. Sorry, I can’t recall the name of the pasta I had, but it was delicious!
I hope that many of you remember how I was lamenting the loss of pork while here? Well, they have chicken ham and beef bacon! The pasta I had contained the chicken ham. It actually tasted very similar to real ham. The problem is it scares me a bit to think about exactly how they make the chicken taste like ham. Sara was quite disappointed that I hadn’t tried the beef bacon first, but that pasta just didn’t sound as good. Once I try it, I will be sure to report in!
Another bonus of today: I was able to get my wireless internet working. Apparently, skip the instruction book, and just click on your internet connections tab, then enter the password located on the bottom of your modem. So much for following directions! Now, to figure out how to change the SSID….
